Here is some general info about the LAN party.

Our mission is to game for about 36 hours straight, without sleeping.
Sissies can always go home to get a nap. (just joking ;-))

What do I have to bring along? ?  :
  • Computer ( case, screen, mouse + -pad, keyboard )
  • Please leave your printer at home :-)
  • Desktop-boxes if you like sound with your games ;-)    (don't come with 300W subwoofers or something like that... There will be already enough noise as it is)
  • Headfones and mic would come in handy with some games. (and is a must with CounterStrike)
  • Joystick / Wheel / gamepad
  • Games you would like to play in multiplayer.
  • There has to be a network card in your computer, which is installed and working under your operating system.
  • Your computer has to have an IP address, in the range of 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254.  Number 100 en 101 are reserved for the dedicated servers. (submask 255.255.255.0 )
  • Cables cables cables....
Electricity cables, distributer-boxes, UTP5-cable and little iron wire to wrap the whole bunch together so nobody trips over them.
If somebody has some UTP5 cables left, please bring them along (just for reference, make sure you put a tag with your name on it so we can see which ones are which.)
If you need 4 electricity-outlets, make sure you bring along a long electricity cable + powerbox for 4 outlets.
  • If you want a good place, please be on time.
  • Entrancefee = 300 BEF (This is for the whole 2 days)
  • Free coffee and thee (+ sugar + milk if you want) is available at the LAN.
  • Perhaps take along a nice comfy chair (:)) ? It are, after all, 36 long intense gaming hours and it might be a good idea if you are comfortable during that time.
  • A pillow if you get tired all of a sudden and wanna take a nap :-)
  • Please also take along your own drinks. Everything is alright, except anything alcoholic. It's not the intention to get drunk. We are there to game.
Bottles of water, coke, sprite etc is ok (there's a big fridge in the room)
    Snacks are ok too.
  • Money for food. In a 200m radius, you find a pitta-house, pizzeria, chinese-take-away, french-fries-bar, sandwishbar. Some of which are open 'till early morning.
  • Please do NOT invite your girlfriend/wife//sexdoll/fiance/mother/sister/sister-in-law/mother-in-law/... They can't get anyway why we sometimes spend time behind the PC 'till late at night, so I guess they shouldn't come to a LAN anyway. ;-)
  • Only entrance allow for those who are enrolled.
Extra info :

I would like to close the place down at 18:00h on Sundays.

If you made any mess (empty bags of chips, etc), please dump it in the trashcans which will be in the room. (please sort your stuff... cans in blue bag, paper in grey bag, etc)

There's are toilets right next to the room.

For those of you who sweat like pigs and smell like shit after 2 hours of gaming, please bring along some deodorant and don't make your neighbour suffocate. ;-)  hehe.

Make sure your computer is in good shape. It would be quite sad if you top-notch Pentium3-500MHz is totally beaten to bits by a mere P2-266MHz when it comes to performance. (Hi Igor ;-) - This will stay in this info-section till the end of times. hehe )
Throw away all the junk that you don't need and which only slow down your system. (i'm thinking about motherboard-temp-sensors, resident software like virusscanners, etc)
For example, on my system, there are only 2 (two) icons in my system-tray (next to the time-clock). 1 to adjust my sound and 1 to adjust my resolution/refresh. I sometimes feel that some people try to impress other by having loads of icons in their systemtray.

People who don't know a lot aobut this stuff, should look around for new drivers of their videocard on the internet. New BIOS-updates for video and mainboard. And install DirectX 8.1
This will already improve most of the performance issues together with the removal of unnessecary junk.

Ideal is to perform a complete new install of Windblows a couple of days before the LAN-party (after formatting your HD) with the new drivers+bios updates Then you'll have a very clean system.

This can be acheived very quick and handy by the use of "Norton Ghost". In this way, you can adjust your computer so it performs excellent for LAN parties and make a ghost-image of your start-up drive.
If you arrive at the LAN, you only have to make a Ghost of your current system and safe this. Then you can install the LAN-Party ghost image and you have a 101% clean fast gaming system.
When the LAN is over, you can overwrite your LAN system with the Ghost-image which you saved in the beginning.
